Prayer Letter 65
Dear Praying Friends,
Christmas greetings to you from the church family and thank you for your prayers and ongoing interest in the life of the Church. We give thanks that our prayers have been answered in bringing healing to Peter (Curate) and, after spending five very productive years with us, he has been able to move on and was appointed Team Rector in Thetford at the beginning of October. Please pray for his new ministry. With James our Vicar on ‘leave of absence’ it left the church without any full time leadership. Jennie, our OLM, our churchwardens and retired clergy have been quite amazing in keeping everything ticking over until the middle of November when the diocese appointed an Interim Minister, Revd William Warren. He will be joined in January by Revd Paul Wilkinson who will be with us on placement for three months.
Our summer ministry in church, this year, was greatly enhanced by the serving of refreshments which allowed church members to have some very meaningful conversations with our visitors. The Church Prayer Night has recently been reinstated and the new initiative, begun a year ago, to have a Prayer Diary alongside news of our Mission Partners has helped us all in our prayer life.
We continue to be welcomed into our local schools, Simon (Head of Mission) goes into the Cromer Academy regularly talking to the young people and taking Assemblies. Our two “Open the Book” teams go into the Infant and Junior Schools and, at Easter, the children visit St. Martin’s Church for 'Experience Easter'.
The music at the 9am service is led by the organ and choir but at the other two services there are music groups and singers. There are three teams and for family reasons two of our team leaders have had to leave and so we pray for new leaders to be raised up. Also, Alison, one of our churchwardens, reaches the end of her six-year ministry in April and so we pray that God will raise up the right person to succeed her.
We are at present involved in Christmas activities and services, and would welcome your prayers especially for the two Christingle services to be held on Christmas Eve. With so many visitors in the town over the Easter period please pray that the “good news” will indeed be preached through the Passion Play on Good Friday and our Easter services.
Please contiunue to support us in prayer for all these things, and for:
- James (our Vicar), Katie his wife and their family;
- William Warren, his wife Claire and two small sons as they begin their ministry among us;
- Paul Wilkinson as he begins his placement here in January;
- Jennie (OLM), Churchwardens, Alison and David and the PCC.
I close by thanking you once again and praying that each and every one of you may be aware of God’s presence this Christmas and in the New Year.
Yours in Christ
